Structure/Function Introduction


In this lesson, students will examine the relationship between structure and function of some of the parts of their bodies.


Questions

Please answer the questions below.

Look at your hands.  What is their function (what can they do-write down at least 4 things)?


Write down 6 things you notice about the structure of a hand (what it is made of and how it is all put together).

 


Choose at least 2 of your structure observations and describe how the structure helps your hands do at least 2 of the functions of your hands.


Now, think about your feet.  What are their functions?  What structures help your feet fulfill their functions?


Compare and contrast the structures and functions of your hands and feet.


SAQ: Summarize the relationship between structure and function in your own body parts.
